I’m 19 years old and from 13 to 18 I’ve always been told “It’s just hormones it’ll go away”. Nobody should be telling you this because nobody wants to wait until their late teens to start slaying because there’s a fix for acne which I went from 18 to 19 that had nothing to do with my hormones whatsoever.
Here are the results of me using this routine everyday for just 6 months.
Diet is important of course but this is water so I’ll only briefly go over this.
3-4L water a day
No goyslop
Orange juice
Avoid sugar
Avoid salt
Simple right?
I’m going to be purchasing accutane as I’m cycling test in a week or so but if you don’t have access to this I have the easiest method to improve your skin without being told “just wait”.
Cleanser
This is super important to get a good cleanser that’s right for you and my oily skin I chose Cerave foaming cleanser and this worked great for my oily skin.
Exfoliant
Do NOT use physical exfoliants if you have bad acne it’s just going to worsen it by intensifying inflammation and slow down the healing process. It will give you ugly scars and dark spots. So for severe acne chemical exfoliant is far more effective like salicylic acid.
Salicylic acid - BHA (Beta-Hydroxy Acid)
This is gold standard for super acne prone skin. Do not use this everyday as it will damage your skin barrier giving you dry flaky skin, feel uncomfortably tight, and can burn or sting for hours. I personally only use this everyday 3-4 weeks when I have small breakouts but with severe acne, I used this 2x a week. If it is ≤2% it is safe to use everyday but the stronger products out there are a lot more effective when only used 2x a week.
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
I hadn’t used this stuff up until about 2 months ago and it has been a blessing especially for winter season as it eliminates that rosy red look on your face, regulates your oil production and fades post-acne marks. You can use this every day and night for the best results.
Moisturiser
Ideally for moisturiser you want to use one that contains vitamin C as it’s antioxidant and repairs skin barriers effectively if you’ve used shitty products in the past. It inhibits tyrosinase which is the enzyme that produces melanin and reduces hyperpigmentation.
First, you want to wet your face with warm water and apply the cleanser all over your face then leave it on for about 30 seconds then wash it off. Then use your chemical exfoliant Salicylic acid (1-2x a week) I recommend foam or gel versions of this and not the serums as you keep the serums on your face but foam and gel washing off after 30-60 seconds after application. Now, the niacinamide put this on under your eyes and on your then rub it in deeply. Wait about 3 minutes for your face to feel a little bit dry then apply the Vitamin C moisturiser, waiting for it to feel dry is important otherwise you’ll be walking around looking oily any shiny all day.
