In surah 9:30
Prophet Muhammad claims that the Jews worshipped Ezra.
One common defection I've read about is that he was talking about some small sect of Jews but this is again proven to be false in sahih Muslim 1 Hadith 352 that was referring not some small sect but all Jews
No convincing explanation for this by any muslim scholar so far. The only arguments are the first one that he was talking small sect proven to be false. Some argue it refers to extreme veneration not literal belief and the third belief that existed but disappeared and then some argue it's translation or word of play. All mostly deflections. No clear cut explanation for this so far.
And this is condemning all Jews of burning in hell because they worshipped Ezra but there is like
0 proof they ever did. It isn't just a small oopsie and still remains one of the biggest contradictions in Islam alongside crucifixion and identification of Mary.
The Jews say, “Ezra is the son of Allah,” while the Christians say, “The Messiah is the son of Allah.” Such are their baseless assertions, only parroting the words of earlier disbelievers. May Allah condemn them! How can they be deluded ˹from the truth˺?
