I'm hearing mixed answers abt the optimal amount of reps at the gym.
I usually do 3 sets of 8-10 reps but now im hearing that 2 sets of 8 reps is optimal?
which is which

1-2 sets

depends on overall vollume and rir bur for the most part its optimal
How? Lower rep ranges are more beneficial, it’s been proven for a while now. Less overall fatigue. 8 reps maximum

Mechanical tension is maximized by how close you go to failure, not by how much you reach that stimulus in a single session.
Depends on the exercise but 4x8
"Depends on the exercise," 0-2 RiR with minimal CNS fatigue is essential for all muscle groups. wtf are you talking about lol

Unnecessarily high volume is just mental masturbation for retards since it makes them feel like they're actually doing something meaningful with their training, as well as the fact that it's somewhat backed up by outdated & flawed studies. Just another excuse to rely on slop volume rather than actually training hard.

as in the same talking about a "well balanced diet"? no thank you i'd rather hear it from people who have done both theory and practice.

Agree but obviously depends on application.
OP is likely implying they want a hypertrophic outcome though, of which this works.

Mentzer did that, if he says what he does is the best and he was also the best in practice why not follow it?
