oral minoxidil and finasteride (hairloss experts help me out)

I have extremely poor balding genes and have been on finasteride since 19, I'm 22 now. it completely stopped my hairloss till a few months ago now I am shedding again. just ordered some oral minoxidil, will be taking probably .75-1.25 a day I haven't decided yet.

I've always heard minoxidil does not stop the root cause of hairloss because of not blocking DHT obviously. so if it is just a growth stimulant am I growing new hairs or is it helping my thinning hairs to recover and be healthy

thats just incorrect. fear mongering made u believe that. doctors across the world prescribe it low dose and its even becoming more popular in the US. more studies keep coming out on it and its safety.

from what Ive read that is not the case. its outdated. new studies are showing low dose oral min is more effective and most common sides are lower leg edema and other manageable things. obviously if ur one of the rare ones to get fast heart beats or your blood pressure changes than you just stop taking it just like with finasteride

Yeah actually the more I'm reading about it the more I'm thinking 1.25mg is probably just a superior treatment to topical.

1mg oral gives you the same systemic exposure as 100mg (1ml) on the scalp. 1.25mg oral (1/4 of a 5mg tablet) is likely the same or better than topical min but without the greasy hair. Since it's also systemic it would do stuff like increase eyelashes, eyebrow and facial hair growth.

It can grow "new" hairs, as in hairs follicles that are dormant but not completely dead yet. However, the real issue is your DHT raping your hairs before they even get a chance to grow. So the best course of action is to hop on dutasteride and/or add RU58841, because stimulants only work when your hair gets a chance to grow.

Just try it tbh, in a few weeks/months if you have some weird side effects like irregular heartbeat or hypo/hypertension. And eventually increase the dose a bit if you don't have side effects.

Honestly putting minoxidil topically every day is such a hassle, I'd rather hop on oral min and save the topical applications for RU58841 and eventually I might add in topical dutasteride.
