Ortho and braces

my orthodontist suggests extracting 2 upper premolars for my overbite and bringing some teeth back, also i do have severe crowding, but my jaw looks pretty good right now without braces. how will extracting and getting braces affect my jaw and face. I turn 17 in a month.
