Ortho told me i cant get palate expander

He said although my upper jaw is considered narrow compared to the average range, it js already too much wider compared to my lower jaw currently causing an active mismatch of the wideness, he said if I were to get a palate expander I would be widening the mismatch even further. Anyone else had the same issue and couldn't get palate expander?
