I’m 14 years old and i scheduled my orthodontist appointment and was wondering what questions i should ask i am already planning on asking them to do an x ray on my palate so i can get an expander

A palate expander isn’t something everyone automatically needs. You might benefit from one, but that depends on your bite, palate width, airway, skeletal development, and overall facial structure. I’m not a doctor, so I’d ask the orthodontist whether you actually have transverse maxillary deficiency or another reason for expansion rather than going in already decided that you need one.

Definitely ask for proper imaging/measurements if they think it’s necessary, and ask them to explain what they’re seeing and why they recommend a certain treatment.

At 14 you still have a lot of development ahead of you, so focus more on getting a proper diagnosis than trying to prescribe yourself a specific appliance.

i already know i have a narrow palate and a narrow jaw and it’ll improve my canthal tilt slightly while also improving my alar base and zygos projection and 14 is peak puberty so if anything i should be more locked in now iqlet think before you post
