Other options than elastics to fix overbite 🙏?

Please help
I’ve had braces for a while now to straighten my teeth. I live in Sweden and all dental work is free here if your under 20 years old and I’m turning 16 soon. My orthodontist wants me to wear elastics to fix my overbite.. (I have a really bad overbite and when I bite down and smile you can only see my upper front teeth).

After reading about elastics and hearing that it pushes ur upper front teeth backwards and ruins your face I don’t want it. Are there any treatments other than elastics that can be used to treat an overbite? I can’t send pics coz I’m writing this from school but it’s similar to this.

you coukd try pull ur lower jaw forward i made the stupid decision of wearing elastics and now i ahve a slightly recessed maxilla
