Very unnecessary medicine unless you've got type 2 diabetes

I saw a doctor for asthma and he prescribed it to me. I'm on Medicaid, so I get it for free.

Damn. For what?
Ozempic lawsuits are a large, ongoing litigation against manufacturer Novo Nordisk, alleging the popular diabetes/weight loss drug caused severe gastrointestinal issues (like gastroparesis, intestinal blockage, ileus) and vision loss (NAION) because the company failed to warn users and doctors about these serious risks. These cases are consolidated into a Multi-District Litigation (MDL) and claim inadequate warnings, with patients seeking compensation for injuries, medical costs, and pain, though no major settlements have occurred yet.

Key Allegations
    • Failure to Warn:
Plaintiffs argue Novo Nordisk downplayed severe risks, promoting the drug heavily for weight loss (off-label) without sufficient warnings.
    • Serious Side Effects:
Reported injuries include stomach paralysis (gastroparesis), intestinal blockages, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, and vision loss (Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy - NAION).
    • Product Defect:
Lawsuits claim the drugs were defectively designed and insufficiently tested for these risks.
