If you are considering a palatal expander you should be aware of these:

PROS
- Forward Growth (dw if your lip feels sunken in during the process it's normal, maxilla does grow forward in the end)
- Increased inter-oral volume (more room for your tongue to come up on the roof of your mouth)
- Increased airway volume (shit load of benefits here)
- Bigger arch, more aesthetically pleasing
...

Risks and complications
Potential Complications and how to avoid them:

- Split doesn't occur: sometimes MSEs, MARPEs and all other devices fail to split the bone, around 25% in male adults if i remember correctly, which isn't that terrible but there are options to weaken the suture by PIEZO cuts or surgical assist.

- Asymmetric Expansion: Comes from more resistance one side of face or another. There isn't much you can do but
1) Surgically assisted cut to split the suture symmetrically
2) Just don't let your asymmetry go wild. Simply watch your face, you are blackpilled, you will notice it. You can turn the expander back and it will relapse if done on time.

- Diastema, tooth gap: not much you can do about it. There are temporary implants I've seen people do but they look like shit

- Dental tilt/slant might get your smile line all fucked up and not easy to fix orthodontically. Comes from your expander being installed incorrectly so choose a provider wisely

TF TO DO WITH THE MANDIBLE?
If you plan on expanding and your bite is already fine. Ask yourself what the fuck are you gonna do to your lower jaw. It doesn't magically match the maxilla, certainly not in adults. If you expand too much there is no going back. There are no expanders (there are but don't even think about them) for the mandible. There are surgeries tho, BSSO, for example. You can also do SFOT (JawHacks has done it. You graft the bony thing in your gums to make your alveolar bone bigger and push teeth to that new created space).

YOU GOTTA HAVE PLAN FOR THE MANDIBLE

If your upper teeth are already tipped in

Then it's fine and you are a perfect candidate. Your tipping will improve and it probably means your lower is wider than your wider. Just be a little careful and don't expand too much.

Follow-up procedures
Your occlusion is probably all fucked up now so be prepared for the braces/invisalign to get your teeth in proper bite. Isn't that bad of a process just takes some time.

Hopefully I didn't forget anything

Nothing new, but i appreciate the effort, bimax is much superior than mse because you can widen the palate while you are doing the surgery.
