I am currently 17 I was wanting to get a Marpe however its not regularly done in the uk so I was considering getting a palate expander instead is it possible it will still work while I just recently turned 17

dental vs skeletal expansion marpe is better

dental would just help with crowding because it doesnt really expand the pallete yeah? if you're saying MARPE is the one that actually works on the maxilla and widens it. but from what i know, both work on the maxilla and screw in it to widen it

I have seen that they are similar and the results are the same the main difference is the palate expander is used for when ur skull is not fully fused so there is no need for a Marpe and the marpe is used for teenagers that are around 18-19 and young adults because there skulls are most likely more fused together

palatte expander is just a lighter version of marpe ig like palatte expander applies a certain force over time but marpe applies that same force but much more thats why you gotta crank it
