At what age is an pallet Expander useless and do I need braces afterwards

you expand at any age but when your old you will need maspe or marpe as a expander and yes you need braces afterwards since it leaves a gap in the middle

Maspe doesn’t give a gap usually tho?

Yes it does as you spilt the palate and therefore the front teeth have a gap as you spilt each side. This is why maspe requires braces afterwards ( rep me)
