You’re right they take it too far but there’s truth to it. Majority of men are invisible to women so this skews what they perceive as a “normal man’s height” and the ones that are visible are often taller. So with this in mind I think it’s fair to say that women perceive the normal height of a man/the normal height to be considered in the attractive pool to be around 2 inches higher than the countries average.

fax, on my course of like 200 people, i'm the second tallest after some 6'6 rugby player. Not being the tallest person in the room is hella rare.

Majority of guys claiming 6' are 5'9-5'10 as it is. I've had guys shorter than me claim one inch taller. Every guy verbally frauds 2 inches at least.

we literally have data and math, iam 6'3 and so is my father. only 15 percent of the population around the world are 6 feet and taller the avg man is 5'9 and the avg women is 5'6.
