Possible to get botched with a fat graft overfill undereyes?

I've been seeing the fat graft threads that it's pretty much standard advice to ask for an overfill of 30% ... issue is that every other resource outside of .org seems to directly contradict this, heavily warn against overfilling in the midface-undereyes.

What's the deal here? Hunch tells me that too much asymmetric fat retention in the periorbital region is a good problem to have (especially regarding anti-ageing), but at the same time, it feels odd to go against caution that exists everywhere else except for .org.

Org is sort of full of larpers or trolls…the majority didn’t even had any surgeries or procedures before.

I’d bet on the real life advice from people who’ve studied and had patients before.

good to be skeptical but yes an overfill is usually the right idea. Even the clinics are aware of this. I'm not sure why the literatuer is behind on this but fat survival rate is obviously not uniform across regions. When we say 'overfill' what does that even mean, what is that standardized to? The real answer is each patient is going to be unique in how much graft survival is possible per area and how much fat is needed in each area

lol, ngl though, whenever I've found a contradiction between .org vs mainstream plastic surgery, .org tends to end up being closer be to the truth ...

Based on what I read after looking into it, my hypothesis is that overfilling significantly increases the risk of fat graft complications (fat necrosis, lumps and nodules, inner-tissue scarring) with the specific complications being falsely attributed to "poor results from overfilling". However, the risk essentially approaches zero when grafting with someone who knows what they're doing, thus, .org is just giving advice in the right direction provided that you're not going to butchers / low-skill surgeons.

I think that’s a good take

@nathan_Bs123 saw your planning post btw, did you get undereye/infra fat grafting at rat yet?

Well Ive seen reddit posts of females overfilling the infraorbital area and in general these clinics preach for a more youthfull look and volume without any eyebags but the cases vary a lot, some look like chipmunks while others are happy with their procedure and its quite noticable on them to..

My fat grafting is in november and im planning to make thread about this after the results

Anyway I guess for volume reasons overfilling can cause a more bloated look instead of hard structeral bone look BUT if your infras are recessed anyway then any volume under eyes would theoratically ascend no? I always had the idea that volume for undereyes is catogerized like this:

Implants + fat grafting > implants > fat grafting > tear trough filler > recessed infras

That's gonna be in feb I'm going to istanbul in like a week for my first round of proc

Nice, but was going to ask if you had any context on the right undereye area to show (most people going to them for hunter eyes specifically, so they focus of upper eyelid models like O'pry)... I showed them Michal Mrazik's prime eye area as reference.

Obviously, he mogs me to the grave, but I'm not sure if this was an ideal undereye reference to show them. Thoughts?

bro you got stop mentioning the clinic name lmfao. yeah that's very ideal, getting 80-90% of the way there is more than good enough aswell. I'm bringing my really bad under eye area to a okay-decent and if I'm lucky good under eye area.

The issue is that it's not clear if the puffiness + bloated looks come from overfilling vs complication risks that significantly increase with overfilling (edema, fat necrosis, etc) ... I haven't seen a single person here get the overfilled puffy undereye look when going to a quality surgeon, and people are asking for overfills explicitly lol.

Didn't seem too bad from what I remember, but curious, what made you opt for fat grafting undereyes instead of an infraorbital implant first? I tried to get infras with a blackpilled surgeon months ago, but I got turned away after they saw my CT scan and told me to get fat grafting instead.

I am getting infras first

I have an insane tear trough so it makes sense for me to get infras first. if you have the same thing I would suggest that

Ah I see, I'm going to try to do fat grafting first and then consult for infras again ... doesn't seem obvious to me why infras need to be done first (atleast that's what a lot of people on here seem to imply ...). In reality, most people who need infras also need fat grafting, so it would make sense to me to do the fat grafting first, no?

I mean infra + supra no? Overfilling supra 100% and "normal" filling under eyes is the play I think

"Normal filling" means that you're betting on the fact that you're one of the anomalous cases where all the fat is retained (which almost never happens), so you're pretty much guaranteeing that you're going to need to schedule another session.

Regarding the overfill risk, I'm still doing research right now. I saw a tech youtuber's fat graft go badly undereyes, with puffy eyes -> brief ascension -> then an interesting residual bloat with the infra volume shrinking - @lurking truecel did a post on this guy I believe.

I consulted with a ps who specifically avoids overfilling due to a risk of malar edema. He also prefers to do it under general anesthesia because according to him it significally helps in survival rate of the fat cells.

He got overfilled and got bad lumps of dead fat in the undereye, this cant be removed either unless you surgically remove it
