Premolar extraction for BiMax preparation

Just got back from an ortho visit, she told me that premolar extractions would be neccessary for me to get a bimax. Has any of yall got it? I’ve read some fearmongering about it narrows your palate or creates a sunken face. But some claim that it wont really fuck you up. I’m also 20 so my face has 98% completed developing and my palate isn’t narrow right now.

i mean if ur class1 to start and want to improve breathing problems and NOT get monkey maxxed, big lefort and genio movements arent the move

u get approximately 5mm more lower jaw movement

i wonder - with premolar extractions your buccal corridors will narrow right? so should you offset with a segmental lefort to add transverse width to restore it/extend it?

the ortho said that I’m a rare case, i’m class 3 (recessed maxilla but not too much) and my teeth have compensated perfectly WITHOUT BRACES. So my teeth are pretty much perfect.
So yeah i need premolar extractions.

over 6mm of maxilla movement would probably monkeymax me.

im scared the extractions and then braces will fuck up my teeth my teeth are one of my best features lol. But ur right. Hopefully everything works out.
