Premolar extractions ruined my life

Fuck all dentists who extract premolars for braces had this done to me at 12 shit absolutely ruined my face and my made me recessed. I had a fucking above average face when I was a kid and after this shit im now a fucking asymmetric/flat face/recessed cell.

When I was a kid I hade some teeth crowding. It was just my bottom incisors and my upper canines were a little too high up. But my face was still really good. The weird thing is that before I was 12 I had these yearly checkups to see how my teeth were developing he asked if I wanted the braces immediately or if I wanted to wait and see how they're developing and if they'll correct themsleves. I did choose to wait and see but couldn't his dumbass have at least teached my parents to give me some tougher foods or about how important nose breathing is. They obviously wouldn't fix themselves. Anyways I thought that the braces would give me straighter teeth and not change my whole fucking headshape. I also didn't do research about since I was a kid and thought that it was a simple procedure, braces= straighter teeth-done and that dentists are total fucking idiots but I was wrong. I also wanted to get it over with back then instead of having to do it like 20 because I for some reason thought it would be embarassing to have it at that age. Anyways at 12 we went through with it and I got 4 premolar extractions and braces.

Fast forward a couple years my face just looks worse and worse. I thought maybe it's genetics/sleeping on my side or mouth breathing maybe. But there's obviously not a gene for having a recessed jaw, an underdeveloped maxilla plus an asymmetrical face. One time I just dove down the rabbithole of the extraction retraction mike mew and it all clicked. Obviously taking out 4 healthy teeth and retracting the other ones plus having a retainer for 2 years after that has big effect on the face. Even worse when your 12 and in peak puberty. You're literally forcing back the teeth on top of stopping the maxilla from growing since you're still in puberty. It's all based on pseudosicence from the 1950s to force straightening teeth as a quick fix. And I know a lot of people who had the same procedure and they're all recessed with the long face, hook nose look. It's obviously not a fucking coincidence. The part that really fucks with me is looking at old pictures of myself and seeing how good I looked before this and realising that it wasn't my genes that fucked me it was a desicion that I took when I was 12 and clueless. My good looks, health, potentially good future love life and slaying teenage years all got took from me because of something that another human did to me.

However, my potential was still curved by a solid point or two, I feel for you man.

Extraction doesn't make you face assymetric, if you have a assymetric face its probably due to s crossbite created by the narrow upper arch which in turn led to condylar resorption on one side which make one side weaker. S bit shorter ramus on one side, one eye with a different tilt etc

Yeah but the whole process of extracting and putting on braces with elastics that retracts the rest of the teeth to fill in the gap will probably still lead to asymmetry. Its basically forcing the maxilla back and recessing the chin. That has to have an impact the on the bite. I mean alot of people that had orthodontics claim their new bite feels weird and uncomfortable.

Thats what probably led to the narrow upper arch as you said which leads to the condylar resorption. Your last sentence last part kind of describes my face ngl.

Im still 100% that my face would be way more developed and symmetrical before the whole braces procedure. As I said before your face doesnt randomly go from good bite symmetrical face to an asymmetrical face. Youre probably right about the condylar resorption but my point is that that was definitely triggered my the retractive orthodontics which fucked up the maxilla by retracting it.

Ik its honestly a joke with some of the shit they do to people. Next time i get a checkup imma discuss options such as implants with them but not sure how that will go down seen as im still pretty young. Also do u know of any ways that i could help fix it

Dude deadass in the same fucking position as you. I got braces aswell but they made me get 4 extractions 2 top and 2 bottom before I got them. During braces I wore bands and they gave me an expander aswell but barely expanded shit because my palette is still extremely narrow. Recessed the shit out of my face and made me super downgrown. I also did have bad posture and mouth breathed often which for sure helped further the problem. Flatenned and pushed my entire face back. I barely found out about this shit like last year and I'm 17 now so MARPE and surgery seem to be the only solution but my fuckass ortho is saying I shouldnt. They removed teeth because my palette was narrow as a kid when they could've just expanded it and made room? Like holy fuck how retarded are these jew orthos. They fucked up my entire life for some bullshit. I wish i knew about all this and avoided it but I was like 12 or 11 and didn't know any better. My chins huge now and my cheekbones are still present somehow, like I just imagine what I could've looked like if I had proper craniofacial development and good forward growth like I could have been actually mogging. It genuinely keeps me up at knowing I was fucked over by these idiots who I was supposed to trust. dude yeah thinking about how normal I would be, you could probably talk to a Maxillofacial surgeon I think. they probably know a lot more abt this stuff. Thats what people and my ortho have recommended. shit wasn't even a game of genetics it was this bullshit.

that's not true, maybe your maxilla will be wide enough, but it can still be recessed, all other facial bones can be misaligned/not as big as they should have been and you could have an overbite/underbite
