So for quite a while now, I’ve been seeing a constant, very heated back and forth between people in the lookism space, on a very “complicated” topic, known as the Eye Area vs Eye Color debate.

So what is this debate exactly? Well to keep it short and simple, it is the argument that is inevitably reached the second anyone mentions eye color on the forum. Seriously, it’s inevitable, look at any thread praising any eye color, there is likely within the first 5 replies, someone talking about how “eye shape > eye color” “It was never about the eye color (insert photo of man with good eye area)” etc.

This has always been to me, just a massive coping parade. You can immediately tell that someone has brown/dark eyes whenever they post something like this because someone with light eyes would never have any reasoning to make such a statement.

In today’s thread, I will be breaking down why eye color is “superior” to eye shape, at least within these debates. So without any further ado, let’s get straight into it.

So the main thing we firstly have to address is that eye color vs eye shape is fundamentally an extremely flawed debate. Eye color is a singular feature determined at maximum by roughly a dozen genes and eye shape is just a term for the multiple features that go into making a good eye area (which obviously require a more significant genetic lottery win to be considered good than eye color.)

Not only that, but eye shape caters to 2 of the 4 pillars (dimorphism and harmony) while eye color, being a singular feature, only caters to misc (some people include eye color in dimorphism, I wouldn’t agree although I do think it can make you look more masculine.)

So what we have here is a gang up where eye shape, a part of your face made up of a dozen or more features that caters to 2 out of the 4 pillars is being put up against eye color, which caters to a single pillar and is a standalone feature. It is fundamentally, an extremely flawed debate. That should be obvious, the only reason that the debate exists in the first place is because T50cels cope en masse about not having light eyes (a largely unchangeable feature,) by saying eye area matters more (a changeable feature.)

So knowing all of this, for the sake of this debate, I’m going to say that eye color still matters more.

But how? Well the argument for eye area breaks down the second we leave the forum and enter real life. Nobody on earth is ever going to compliment you on your supraorbital ridge or your PFL or medial canthus. You know what they will compliment? Light eyes. It’s not a coincidence that light eyes are mentioned in basically every single romance film/series/song/media ever.

The eyes are the window to the soul, the pane containing the window will never matter more than the window itself.

Now let’s see how people with each are treated in real life:

Let’s go to South Asia for our first example.

Here is a photo of Salludon, who undoubtably has a top tier eye area. He is one of the most renowned looksmaxxers ever, however his wife is famously LTB and I doubt his second wife is any better. Pretty strange for someone who is supposedly Chad and possesses a “top tier eye area” right?

On the other end of the South Asian hemisphere, we have this woman:

This photograph of this afghani 12 year old girl was taken by National Geographic over 40 years ago. The photo of this woman (who is objectively not amazing looking) went so famous for her striking eyes that she is used in mog edits to this day, and superior to that, she is literally known as the “Afghan Girl” with her own Wikipedia page.

Pretty strange right? A 12 year old MTB with striking eyes is more significant and more famous than a literal South Asian Chad. Surely the only time where eye color is put up to such a high pedestal right? Unfortunately not, there are countless examples of this happening.

This is a family in Africa that had a more extreme version of the eyecolorpill forced onto them, unlike the Afghan Girl who was a phenotypic anomaly with or without her light eyes in Afghanistan, this family in Africa looks textbook African, with the skull development, skin pigmentation, and hair type. Only one main difference, they have light blue eyes:

The result? Instant celebrities. They went famous the second their photos were put online and they were broadcast on the news constantly for a long time after they were discovered.

The most glorified South Asian phenotype, Indo-Nordic, also has green eyes:

This phenotype isn’t just some South Asian phenotype either, people with this phenotype are treated like royalty in their own country. If you are born in poverty with this phenotype in South Asia, you will still be treated as a king.

Now let’s go into our own lookism space, see where this inherently lies.

If someone was to make a thread asking “What is the best phenotype,” as they commonly do, the answers would be mixed but the main one mentioned would be Dalofaelid (other some other Nordic type, Nordid Proper for example.)

Obviously as we look at the Faelid phenotype here, it an absolute monster of a pheno, it fits every single category for a good phenotype:

However, do you know what the most common answer would be to the question? It would be North Atlantid.

This phenotype is peanut skulled, has terrible dimo, and is overall unimpressive. So why does it rank such a high spot? It’s because of its blue eyes that make it such an exotic and desired phenotype.

Now you tell me, do you think this phenotype would be revered, loved, and desired in the same way if it looked like this:

No. It wouldn’t. It would be viewed as an inferior peasant phenotype. Notice how blue eyes instantly make the phenotype look royal/exotic and brown eyes make it look peasant tier instantly?

Not the only phenotype that this happens with. Let’s look at the Southern European hemisphere, where we have 2 phenotypes within the same family.

Pontid phenotype:

Pontid is regarded to as a very average Southern European phenotype, this is likely what the average Mediterranean peasant looked like throughout history. It’s not a bad phenotype at all however, just not amazing.

North Pontid phenotype:

Literally the same exact phenotype with a more narrow face, slightly paler skin (means nothing,) and most importantly, blue eyes. Regarded to as the greatest Southern European phenotype ever solely due to its light eyes.

I could go on with this all day, but now we must get into the math behind all of this.

I stated beforehand that eye area accounts for roughly 2/4 pillars of looks, that being harmony and dimorphism, and eye color only applies to misc (coloring.) In theory, eye area should technically matter more if it applies to more pillars, but that breaks down when you look at how much it matters.

Since dimorphism and harmony apply to the entire face (which eye area is only a single part of,) they only contribute to roughly 10 - 20% of each. If we were to add it up, this means they contribute at maximum, 40% overall across 2 pillars.

Eye color on the other hand, contributes to a minimum of half of misc (50%,) and in non European populations (such as South Asian and sub Saharan groups,) it contributes to 100% of misc. Mathematically speaking, it destroys its competition.

I’m sure some of you who disagree with my thread may say “But skin coloring matters much more for misc!” Well then let’s see a comparison between Thom Strijid, a notorious forum misc PSLGod, between himself with and without misc:

If you need literal propaganda posted all over online such as these which show off the highest tier of eye areas vs an animal tier eye shape to “prove your point” then your argument is utterly meaningless.

The best part about this is that since light eye color is an objective superior trait, it clusters within superior gene pools. What does this mean? This means that (per capita at the very least,) people with light eyes have better eye areas on average than people with dark eyes. Not only that, but there are more light eyed people with a top tier eye area than dark eyed people with a top tier eye area, so the propaganda is meaningless anyway, JFL.

The only reason that there is any argument for light eyes being unimportant is because of the historic jealously that people with dark eyes have towards people with light eyes, and since eye color is utterly unchangeable, many seething copers take out their insecurities online by trying to prove something that is meaningless (most of them have garbage eye areas as well as dark eyes, so their propaganda is meaningless.)

The only other cope utilized is the spamming of models who happen to have brown eyes amongst all of their other facial features (such as Chico) which is a fundamental misunderstanding of how this all works. Eye color can be a failo and that is the failo of all models who have dark eyes. It is literally just a model who happens to have brown eyes, the brown eyes don’t make them look better. Every single one of the models shown with brown eyes would mog much harder if they had light eyes.

I’d like to clarify at the end of this thread here that this is no way a hate thread on dark eyes or any type of eye color. I myself believe that eye shape obviously trumps all, however it is important that we don’t cope. I hope you all enjoyed the thread.

Don’t give up if you have dark eyes (or any facial failo for that matter,) continue moving forward so you may mog anyways and live the life of your dreams.
