Yea this can also be the case, well often times it is. But surely we've seen examples of women turning down men they would (or seemed to be) interested in, because of a "label" (5'11 instead of 6ft, etc).

It actually is no question whether a 5ft4 foid would be interested in a guy taller than her, lets say 5ft7 or 8, but hes sub 6ft. So naturally she'd be turned on by that guy, there is proper dimorphism compared to her, but because hes not 6ft, you know, the magic label or universal female requirement, then hes out. Even if he has a good face card. So clearly we can see what Im talking about, taking place. This is the most obvious example though, second to 5'11 vs 6ft, oftentimes this element is subtle with females. Hence I had to use a bunch of comparisons to point it out

They always had, I guess, an estimation of what approximate height is above average. But did they even have that concept back then? Or could they afford to care? So while yes, hypergamy does have a natural role, and attraction too, for certain traits that ensure survival, theres also certainly an element of what Im describing here, spicing things up. Otherwise, no, women aren't rational at all. This is child-like emotional behavior whose purpose is to signal status, for social media etc and making other women below them jealous
