Reason why you have any assymetry

I have this real bad cuz I had an accident when I was like 1-2 yo n got my top left central incisor baby tooth removed so I used a prosthetic one till my adult tooth came in

From that n the trauma with it my face is jus completely contorted n twisted to one side every part that u mentioned is completely accurate n true cuz I have all of it

I think a lot of it for most people tho is partially some genetics of how their face just looks but mostly development n then that along w some pre deterministic genetic traits

I have seen it many times and i have it too, its the most common assymetry pattern out there.(Maybe the only one if not an open bite or sum shit)

My hypothesis is that it is created by a crossbite, it could also be scholiosis or sphenoid bone issue. but the pattern is allways kinda the same and i have seen it on many ct:s including mine and the pattern is the same all the time.

this is best illustrated with a ct scan but i dont have any that i want to show but i have seen it on 5+ diffrent ct scans including my own, and i am confident this is the pattern.

We will use vinnie hacker as example because he has this issue, and its kinda clear even tho his masseters and overall features compensates. but its a good example and we know most people rather watch good looking people which is why this example is good too.

We will call the side with the shorter ramus the weaker side(even tho its not in some way, but it appears this way)

-shorter ramus on the weaker side

shorter ramus and also the ears allways seem to sit lower on this side also, is this beacause of the shorter ramus or because they posture their head this way to compensate, maybe this is one of the causes. sphenoid bone may play apart here

-longer mandible body on the weaker side

yes the mandible body is usually longer on this side but this actually make kinda sense, because the mass on both sides are the SAME. But the mass is distributed differently so that is why one side get more ramus but shorter mandible body and vice versa.

-slight negative canthal tilt on the weaker side

Yes, this is beacause the zygoma and orbital drops on this side, this will make more sense when you see the crossbite pic below.

-lower set zygos overall

same reason as above

-chin becomes assymetrical to mostly because usually bends downwards to the not weaker side

Goes hand in hand with the longer ramus and shorter mandible body and vice versa.

But now you may ask and many probably already know and have their own hypohesis why this problem occur, one of the clear reasons is that you have a crossbite, or a slanted maxilla.

View attachment 3383138

When you bite together with a crossbite the teeth on the right side(this depends on the case in this case right side) will go together first, this will create both bone diffrences and also a stronger masseter on this side. and will also make the left side of the mandible slide more to the right side creating tmj problems (condylar resorbtion) on the weaker side if not careful.

here is another bad pic i tried to make to illustrate it, its just common sense really( i am really bad at paiting)

end of thread, i mean this type of assymetry is extremly common, i could prove this exact assymetry pattern with multiples ct etc. and also some people with this dont get the eye and zygo assymetry and i dont know the reason, could be if the jaw is slanted and not crossbited only the jaw will shift.

View attachment 3383159this is a extremly slanted maxilla, and i dont think this affect the eyes that much as a crossbite will.

honorble mentions of famous people who have it i think:

Another great argument!
Here is mine.

Even when I smile the lines of soft tissue are asimetric

had this really bad. djs partially fixed the issue. huge correction to mandible and ramus. took about half the asymmetry out of the chin. didnt really do anything for zygos or middle third though

assymetry is useless as everyone has it , as long as it's not much visible it's ok

That goes for like literally everything as long as it’s not extreme yea but if it is imo that’s crazy failo

Makes u look deformed cuz u literally are lol

(Speaking from experience btw )

No like some features can either make or break your face but the assymetry thing is overrated. People just cherry pick attractive faces who are symetric and some ugly faces who arent to prove their point

Yea good point I suppose ur right

W things like asymmetry n recession it’s more of a spectrum where u have to be far enough on one end for it to be unattractive

Then with features its one type is ugly and one type is aesthetic but if u define it further like nose for example a hump in general is bad but a slight hump is negligible n can sometimes be good cuz masculine

Idk lol ig im jus overthinking nuancecel but the way u put it is correct esp w the example u used

face metrics literally copied this entire thread and made a video about it

nope, the main environmental factor to assymetry is bad posture and overcompensating. It all starts from the legs.

it depends on like 100 diff things, assymetry in spine and in cranium is dependent on parents age, and even the women body, also the nutrients etc what mom consumes during pregnancy. So yea it can be over before it starts

I definitely have this and scoliosis, the difference on both sides of my jaw is somewhat extreme and my dentist even noted it in my latest x ray. Seems common to a degree but my case is worse than normal I think. Maxilla is slanted enough that one of my cheekbones is completely recessed from the front and side, my gonial angles and ramuses are wildly different too. Very surprised I haven’t had functional issues until recently

@KJOCA good thread

note i said "environmental"

I mean what your mom does during pregnancy is enviroment, but ofc genes plays the biggest part
Malnutrition doesn't necessarily cause asymmetry. It causes underdevelopment all around. When your posture is causing you to compensate, those forces will be applied throughout your body and will be expressed on the face. Most people looked way more symmetrical when they were children. As you grow older, your habits will get expressed as facial asymmetry and recession.

The crux of orthotropics is correct posture.
