It's very slow-paced, yes.
But legit I've never seen a movie or show develop characters, storylines, themes, and weave them all together in such a perfect way like in Mad Men.

Every season has a different story, in the same setting and same atmosphere as the movie though.

The FBI characters aren’t that deep, but their dialogues with the serial killers are interesting. Not the best series by any means but beats other serial killer series, especially the Dahmer one

I’m watching the series currently and so far it’s really good.

I have watched the original movie a few years ago and back then I thought that it’s almost a perfect thriller, it leaved many details vague which played perfectly to it’s surreal, black comedical nature

It didn’t need a followup to be complete but the series has been a fantastic add on to it

oh true detective season 1 was so good

Hell yeah. I remember when it came out in 2014. I could binge the first four episodes but after that I had to wait one week for every new episode. I hated waiting for it. Season two was alright but it made me enjoy country music and season three was closer to the first season but a lot weaker overall. Back then, I found Rust to be a really weird dude, but upon rewatching it in 2020 or 2021, I could really relate to him. Funny how life changes you, for better or for worse.
