i am personally not religious, but on a purely practical sense i can see why religion may be useful as a tool for group control, power, cohesion, etc
imagine you are a king, how do you ensure everyone listens and obeys you? well ofc, you just claim that god gave you special privileges over others
regardless of whether religion is true or not, you cannot deny how extremely useful religion can be to unite people under a common cause and to solidify your authority
