being religious is actually the smarter option between being atheist. this is why midwits tend to be atheist, but high iq people tend to be religious or have such a complicated view of religion that they are essentially god botherers. religion offloads a huge amount of pointless rumination and anxiety from your life. and it doesn't matter if it's real or not, when you're dead, you won't know the difference, so while you're alive, it makes sense perfect sense to have these beliefs, as they are more adaptive to a fruitful and productive existence
