Brooo he's 17 he's still going through puberty prob, rapid weight loss will cause nutrient deficiencies that'll stunt his height. Reta is a great tool but after the growth plates are closed. Plus all the weight loss will reduce leptin which will supress igf-1 which is key for bone health. If I'm wrong u can correct me we're all on here to learn something this is from my research.
