I want to understand how retainers for example bonded retainers and night retainers affect natural facial development not just sleep posture.
My background: Damon braces finished 2 years ago after that i got bonded retainers and i stiill have them on, overbite was pacifier‑induced due to using it for to long, palate is naturally wide, mild crowding, currently have canine‑to‑canine bonded retainers, and I follow Mike Mews and T Carney Bowles/beautypotential posture/oral habits habits and mechanics

- Bonded retainers: Do bonded retainers restrict natural adaptation by limiting tongue posture, swallow mechanics, suction, arch settling, Damon expansion expression, forward drift, and mewing effectiveness?
- Night retainers:Since night retainers don’t touch the palate, are they basically neutral for tongue posture, natural expansion, daytime adaptation, and forward drift?
- Hormonal growth: Does holding teeth in place (bonded or night) change how the face responds to GH/IGF‑1 signals and how that affects forward/upward growth, jaw development, midface growth/projection, airway changes, or soft‑tissue remodeling?
- Long‑term aesthetics: Is switching from bonded to night retainers better for natural arch expression, airway mechanics, mewing, forward drift, and overall facial development? Also i've thought about switching to night retainers then overtime switching to just my tongue since technically if you do it right it would actually be able to retain the teeth since it acts like an retainers
