RME expander

I’m getting a RME on Wednesday recommend by my orthodontist do I need it or will it fuck me up? I heard for some people it went really well and for some it ruined them.
I’m also getting braces with them.
Also if someone has or has them how much do they hurt?

Is yours tooth-borne or bone-borne?

Palate expanders will not fuck you up. Even if they do ruin your harmony, it won't be by much.

If yours is tooth-borne you'll usually have less facial results.

Bone-borne typically hurts more since they literally screw drills into your skull. Pain meds will usually take away most of the pain though.

Its weird that your orthodontist would ask you to buy screw. Usually they have their own.

Also, screws are usually associated with bone-borne expanders.

Yes. I had an RPE when I was little. Whenever I turned the screws on it, there was some pain but I was also little and had high pain tolerance.
