Hmmm....I remember reading like even 20 years ago that the government is somehow spying on e-mails, text messages, messenger applications, etc. and is automatically scanning for special words like bombs, explosives, attacks, etc., but never saw a situation when an attack was thwarted before it happened, because of intercepting the messages.
Some messaging apps or e-mail providers were supposedly safe and impossible to decrypt, it looks like Snapchat is not one of them.
