Ok, here's the thing. Life is complex. Every action we take creates a certain degree of imbalance in our dopaminergic system, the so-called hedonic treadmill.
Eastern philosophies understood this very early on. Hence... The classic Buddhist-like advice to not get too attached to things and to let go, Star Wars Jedi docet.
I wonder if living like an amoeba in this way is really the solution. Or maybe it’s better to dive in and live a constant roller coaster, knowing that sooner or later, nostalgia and physical decay will make us pay the price.
