Before you even think about getting a self tanner you need to know it wont look 100% like a real tan from the sun but its the best way to get a tan in winter/fall, if you dont want to destroy you skin in a solarium.
1. Dont get a cheap self tanner they dont work well and sometimes look very yellow and unnatural. I reccomend a lotion with light tan (its dark enough trust), or tanning drops mixed with normal body lotion (thats the best way).
2. Do a peeling before, or use a loofer and scrub your skin, I made the mistake of not doing this and my skin was so stained after it looked horrible like some kind of skin desease.
3. Spread it evenly on your skin and dont leave spots out or it‘ll look just like you did’nt do a peeling before. Let it dry for 20 minutes before you touch your skin again. Do this one to four days in a row depending how dark you want your skin and if you‘re really white i whould‘nt do more then two days bc it will look yellow faster on whiter skin. After about a week the tan should be almost gone and you can repeat the process.
4. If you need the tan very quickly because you go to an event or something the next day, apply the self tanner normaly, but after about 20 min when its absorbed, apply another layer of it. You could even do this a 3rd time but depending on you skin and the product you used it maybe look yellow so dont do it when you just got it and never tested it before and only try it on your own risk.
I know some people might know about this but its still important to follow these steps if you dont want to mess it up.
