Honestly, I think it depends on genetics, some can grow on a shit diet and loose fat others will not be able to do that. If you don't have good genes for gym just blast gear or don't bother with it

Remember that more weight = bigger muscles = better looks (assuming that you’re working the correct muscles-don’t do shit like hip abductor , traps, or oblique work it will just make you look like a hipcel).

I’d say that 99% of people should cut though.

For me I cut down til I’m extremely lean (can see hella veins and my cheeks hollow out), and then I bulk til I can barely see abs, and then cut again.

Should be like a 1 month cut, 2 month bulk cycle and you should never not see Abs. Before I go on a trip and need to take pics, I cut too.

But some people have different experiences. For example i know someone who put on muscles and lifted for a few years and never once cut weight but was still lean. They made steady gains and ate alot but didnt get fat. I know of others, especially those who play sports, who would never "bulk" per say, would just eat lots of protein and stuff and do sports but also lifted on the side, and put on muscle doing that and had very ripped builds. Some people say they need to"bulk" to build muscle or else they just spin their wheels or platue in strength. So it really depends. I made the most strength when "bulking" when i was a teenager and i did 3 full bulks and put on a ton of strength from where i started out. But these days, i dont "bulk" i just eat to where i feel its enough i recover (i do a sport recreationally and lift weights consistently ) and i have been putting on steady strength for the last year or so and getting muscles. Not as quickly as when i bulked but i still am gaining.

Some go with the conventional wisdom where they say " ur body cant gain weight (aka muscle mass) without consuming more calories than you burn overall". No, you do not need to bulk.

This is supposed to be a high IQ thread but the top post is "I know 0 people who got shredded from a deficit" .....

The trick is be as lean as you can while still feeling good and being able to train hard with adequate intensity. If you bulk and then cut, sure you might gain a few extra lbs of muscle whilst in that bulk, but then guess what? When you have to cut for months cos you bulked like an idiot you are gonna LOSE that extra bit of muscle you gained whilst in that bulk, so in the end there is no net gain compared to if you just maintained and trained hard focusing on lift progression.

If you are currently making strength gains across your lifts on a week to week or month to month basis for more advanced lifters, then you do not need to bulk. If you plateau in your strengh then sure bulk up a bodyfat percent or 2, but the issue is people take it too far with the bulking. They'll put on 20 lbs of weight and think they've added 10 lbs of lean tissue when in reality it is half that and the rest is fat/water.
