I legit know zero people who got shredded from a defecit.

Is bulking and cutting valid or no?

And not “oh bulking and cutting are goyim propaganda just eat clean saar”

Why?

All people with my dream physique bulked and cut, but some recomped as well

Yall say this but have zero evidence

Honestly, I think it depends on genetics, some can grow on a shit diet and loose fat others will not be able to do that. If you don't have good genes for gym just blast gear or don't bother with it

If you’ve lifted for longer than a year, you’ll probably need to carbmax to lift more weight. Remember that more weight = bigger muscles = better looks (assuming that you’re working the correct muscles-don’t do shit like hip abductor , traps, or oblique work it will just make you look like a hipcel).

I’d say that 99% of people should cut though.

For me I cut down til I’m extremely lean (can see hella veins and my cheeks hollow out), and then I bulk til I can barely see abs, and then cut again.

Should be like a 1 month cut, 2 month bulk cycle and you should never not see Abs. Before I go on a trip and need to take pics, I cut too.

High iq tbh
But

Youll basically always either be in deficit or maintainence tho?

How will you get bigger if your always on a deficit

So every single body builder who gets to sub 8% must be doing some secret gatekept method?
No like from scrawny to jacked they got there witha defecit no bulk or recomp

Im talking about getting bigger from like twig status

To maximize hypertrophy, you have to be in caloric surplus.

To lose fat, you must be in caloric deficit.

Body recompisition is a thing but more for extreme beginners who have never worked out or fatasses, it's still not as effective and is much harder

I think it depends. I think everyone should bulk atleast once to get a base , then after you can lift and eat at maintaince or whatever.

But some people have different experiences. For example i know someone who put on muscles and lifted for a few years and never once cut weight but was still lean. They made steady gains and ate alot but didnt get fat. I know of others, especially those who play sports, who would never "bulk" per say, would just eat lots of protein and stuff and do sports but also lifted on the side, and put on muscle doing that and had very ripped builds. Some people say they need to"bulk" to build muscle or else they just spin their wheels or platue in strength. So it really depends. I made the most strength when "bulking" when i was a teenager and i did 3 full bulks and put on a ton of strength from where i started out. But these days, i dont "bulk" i just eat to where i feel its enough i recover (i do a sport recreationally and lift weights consistently ) and i have been putting on steady strength for the last year or so and getting muscles. Not as quickly as when i bulked but i still am gaining.

Some go with the conventional wisdom where they say " ur body cant gain weight (aka muscle mass) without consuming more calories than you burn overall". But i have seen certain times when people put on pure muscle on which seems like a maintance or slight cutting diet. Idk the science behind but it has happened.

What he's saying has nothing to do with carbs but yeah I agree, when you start by cutting even if you are a twig your muscles that are there will be more pronounced and you won't lose as much definition in a bulk

Tbh i just want the physique, dont rlly care how i get there and dont care about strength either

Would you say its very inefficient and a bad idea to try and grow on a defecit?

Either size or abs?

Well strength is still important for gains, u dont have to focus on it but u do a little to make gains. BUT

i built a good natty physique in four years of lifting so if u have questions lmk. I bulked and cut to get the good physique

No, you do not need to bulk.

This is supposed to be a high IQ thread but the top post is "I know 0 people who got shredded from a deficit" .....

The trick is be as lean as you can while still feeling good and being able to train hard with adequate intensity. If you bulk and then cut, sure you might gain a few extra lbs of muscle whilst in that bulk, but then guess what? When you have to cut for months cos you bulked like an idiot you are gonna LOSE that extra bit of muscle you gained whilst in that bulk, so in the end there is no net gain compared to if you just maintained and trained hard focusing on lift progression.

If you are currently making strength gains across your lifts on a week to week or month to month basis for more advanced lifters, then you do not need to bulk. If you plateau in your strengh then sure bulk up a bodyfat percent or 2, but the issue is people take it too far with the bulking. They'll put on 20 lbs of weight and think they've added 10 lbs of lean tissue when in reality it is half that and the rest is fat/water.

You dont need to bulk and look like shit to put on muscle, its a myth

The stupidity of this forum is absolutely mind blowing at times.

To gain weight, you need to be in a caloric surplus.
To lose weight, you need to be in a caloric deficit.
To maintain weight, you need to eat the amount of calories it takes to maintain your weight.

Shocking, right?

Recomping is a meme unless you're a beginner, or you're blasting a substantial amount of gear, but even then it's a meme.

Again, this is the conventional wisdom, but ive personally seen people do otherwise. They r learning its not so straight foward and even if ur not at a cal surplus its possible to gain in some people. They have done studies on this these days.

What do you even mean? If you eat enough meat to be in a caloric surplus you'll gain weight, if you're not, you'll lose weight.
It doesn't matter *what* it is.

You’ll need to bulk. That’s what “carbmax” means.

But you should still have abs the entire time. Don’t ever bulk to fatass mode. You need like a 200 calorie surplus and it should be pretty carb heavy.

You should never not be able to see abs

You will be in a slight surplus (200cal) when bulking, probably a 500 cal deficit when cutting.

Id say try from a defecit and no muscle then try recomp then do a bulk

Lean is law

You can build muscle while staying lean, and without putting on body fat.

How you train is by far the most important factor in building muscle. Progressive overload, training close to failure, using exercises that effectively target muscles, and high frequency.

Even with the most effective program, muscle growth as a natty is slow. Match your calories with your rate of growth, and you will stay lean while gaining muscle. Eating beyond that won't put on a single ounce more of muscle, it will just put on fat.

Or defecit is even possible
