Shampoo causing baldness?

Male pattern baldness is understood to be caused by the masculine hormone dihydrotestosterone (dht) which is unfortunately toxic to hair follicles. Dht gathers in the scalp and gradually kills men's hair follicles. What's strange is that as men get older, their dht levels decrease yet the prevalence of male baldness increases. As baldness is caused by dht causing the unhealth of hair follicles, we can understand prevalence to baldness by dht + hair follicle health. While most treatments of baldness address dht levels, hair follicle health is barely thought of at all.

Sebum is a bodily oil produced at the hair follicle, designed to protect our hair from loss of moisture, bacterial infection, among other things. The purpose shampoo is significantly designed for is to strip our hair of its natural coating of sebum. It's honestly hard for me to imagine this wouldn't effect hair health longevity even a little bit. Of course some shampoos are healthier than others but the basic idea of shampoo is unnatural. I stopped using shampoo about six weeks ago. My hair feels healthier. I only really realized after I stopped using it, but my hair used to be far more sensitive; it felt like my hair follicles were in jeopardy.

I don't honestly know to what degree shampoo effects hair health (if at all) but it's seemed to make a difference for me. Men's testosterone and therefore dht levels are reaching all time lows yet anecdotally men seem to be going bald faster than ever. I think we need to start looking at lifestyle reasons.

what about keto shampoo

I want to try the "No Shampoo" showering method, look it up

It states if you quit shampoo, you'll reek for a week or 2, then the smell will vanish and you'll have god-tier hair quality

Yup, you got to get the shampoos that don't have ANY harmful chemicals in them.

I wish I could do this but I get hella dandruff even if I go 3 days without washing my hair

It's legit though, look at my results through NoPoo for 10 days, my hair went from straight/fluffy to wavy/slightly curly. It got a little greasy tho

You still wash your hair, just with water. This method is known to actually eliminate dandruff

I think shampoo actually might be the cause of dandruff tbh. Normally the amount of sebum your body produces is naturally regulated, but with shampoo depriving your hair of sebum, the body actually produces more to compensate. So your hair gets greasy quickly between shampoos. Most sources say dandruff is caused by excess sebum

I don't know much about it but I would be pretty wary of anything medicinal just generally. It tends to be harsh and there tends to be side effects imo

Just use an egg

Remember reading some article claiming chlorine in shower water can affect your skin and hair also.

Has anyone tried inversion to spur more hair growth? It sounds like something that could possibly work by improving blood flow to the scalp.

supposed to be about two weeks before you see improvement and then maybe another week before sebum levels completely stabilize. unfortunately some hair types will continue to look greasy even after this stage. if you have hair that's very fine and naturally oily you may want to find some special nourishing kind of shampoo or try natural remedies out.

Chlorine probably does have an effect tbh. Not sure if it's enough to invest in a showerhead water filter but that would be a good experiment. Inversion makes complete sense. It might help your skin too actually

If you use hot water you are boiling the egg on your head lol. Didn't you get "cooked" egg white in your hair?

Up to you. But it takes a while before your oils to reach equillibrium

I'm a depressedcel who rarely showers with a nw2/3. I get compliments on my skin and hair and people irl ask me for hair advice. Some foid actually asked me where I got my hairtransplant from :feelsgood:
