BASIC METHOD
grab a few different shirts and bite on them, see which one feels softest on teeth
take the shirt and roll it up a bit the shape doesnt really matter as long as its thick enough to bite full force without tooth damage
the above image is not good quality but as i said it doesnt matter just fold/roll/bunch up/do whatever to get the shirt into a clenchable form
clench on the shirt as in bite down as hard as u can and hold this for as long as possible
theres not much too it, get a feel for it i cant describe "how to clench" because ur jaws are unique
i like to jut my mandible forward try this and normal occlusion
keep doing it as long as possible take days off while muscles/teeth sore then get right back to it
DOING IT LONG TERM
after some time ur jaws will grow strong and u can now shirtclench for a very long time
after ur jaws are adapted to shirtclenching for long periods try pulsating clenching
i mean tensing and untensing masseters rapidly (still bite down full force while tensed)
i dont mean opening the jaws, i mean untensing and tensing the masseters rapidly
this will hypertrophy the masseters furthers
aim to do shirtclenching for 10+ hours a week when u reached this point
of course as a beginner u might only be able to clench for 10 minutes so dont do 10 hours a week
the key is progressive overload for results if u stay doing it how u started u wont get further results
dont ask how long for results it depends on u if u clench more u get much faster results than someone who takes it unseriously they will never get results
HOW DOES SHIRTCLENCHING WORK
the masseter has two attachments: gonion and zygo
clenching tenses the masseters generating a high amount of force on these attachement points of the bones
this higher force from hypertrophied masseters or long duration would cause damage to the bone
this is fine but it mustnt accumulate that is the goal of body to stop it from accumulating
therefore the bones must adapt to be able to tolerate the stress without damage
the result is larger gonions and zygos

MY RESULTS
(took 3 years BUT i was inconsistent, u can get results faster time is just a number and total effort in the time duration is key)
i also got upswing
SAFETY
i had TMD when starting, it with mewing fixed my TMD
so when people say that clenching causes TMJ pain, thats a theory not a fact
maybe it does for some people but not in my experience
i havent noticed any teeth damage. not to say none has occurred, but it would be too small to notice over 3 years
its normal for teeth to get sore happens to me
so theres no safety issues im aware of but of course do at ur own risk
