will be going to a sleep lab to get this done so needing some advice about what I should do

and do they test you to see if you have had any alcohol?
if not, how much should I drink, as I have heard drinking too much is obvious to see when they track your sleep but that having 1 or 2 beers has no effect, but wondering if this is true or not

and is there anything I can do to make my result worse? getting assessed for bimax so want to make sure that my sleep is shit enough

Alcohol consumption drastically cuts down the time your brain stays in REM sleep. Sleeping while having alcohol in your system is basically like having no sleep at all.

But do you know if they test for alcohol in your system beforehand?

The best thing you can do to fraud your sleep apnea ahi is being overweight.
The more you weigh, the higher ahi you will have. I did this myself. When i was 70kg at 180cm i had ahi of 10,but then i was 80kg my ahi went up to 30. the difference is huge. You probably need a high ahi count (prob over 30) to get free bimax of insurance.
