Honestly if you think the would help you with your appeal then absolutely go for it.

Personally I wouldn't get locs unless they were very neat ones, but they're kinda high effort I guess. I do work and study in a field where presentation is very important, can't do anything that makes me look even slightly ghetto

Understood I do software development and still go for styles like this just really not the modern clothing cause the skinny pants big shirt stuff is bad.
