Should I lose weight before going to the gym? If I start gymmaxxing, I would go together with friends, and they all do the same workout routine together (which is lifting weights and shit). Nobody there does Cardio.

eat less calories than for maintaning (but enough protein) and lift, add some cardio (do not exaggerate). In ur condition a body recomp is the best choice.I'm 175cm/5'9 and weigh 78kg

This. Beginners will not just burn off fat at the gym as long as they eat maintenance calories, they will build muscle at the same time.Bad advice here, lifting is great for weight loss. Noob gains=the only time where you can build muscle and burn fat at the same time
