I have a pretty good PC (RTX 3080, I9,) but I don't even play games that often anymore as I find it boring and it's just a time waster. I will use the money to help me travel. Is it a good idea?

NO. The new graphics card generation is right around the corner, and people are gonna sell their used GPUs en masse for a deficit. You're gonna lose money and that computer wouldn't really give you more than 3k USD max. Also traveling is a meme. Just use this computer for 10 years if you don't care about gaming, it could easily last that long for non gaming purposes
