Shouldn't Retin-A Cause Accelerated Aging Over Long Term?

Its method of action is basically inducing faster turnover of your skin cells. The quicker your cells have to divide, the more its telomeres shorten and general cell function deteriorates over time. Are there any long term studies on tretinoin (10 Yrs +) against normal controls because the FDA doesn't require long term studies to approve these kinds of medicines. It may show nothing over a year or 2 and the FDA will approve it so I'm not sure.

Yea I thought about it that way also, supposedly It must also elevate your chances of getting skin cancer ( higher skin cells turnover = higher genetic duplication mistakes).
But since tret is said to slow skin aging, I wonder how.

Because aging means a natural slowdown of cell turnover, resulting in older cells forming more mass and losing the new collagen shine. Cells accumulate and "block" each other, so wrinkles form.

biologist fag here.

I assume tret will slow aging via the prevention of free radical damage accumulation. Free radicals and UV light often damage DNA, and if DNA is damaged that means EVERY cell in your body will have that damaged DNA. By increasing cell turnover, it means that each skin cell is less exposed to free radicals and UV light, thus reducing the damage accumulation.

This is just my theory tho tbh

pretty sure tret is legit - lots of studies and anecdotal before and afters out there

Once you are up in 30s Niacin and Niacinamide rotation will increase NAD + which helps lengthen telomeres according to recent clinical studies.

How to use Niacinamide? Where can I read on this? I am trying to build up skincare stack

no. look at the youtuber hole doing it her skin mogs hard

that telomere shit has been disproven btw. anyway if you don't use 0.1% for the rest of your life every day you're not stressing your skin all that much

Scared about increasing sensitivity to the sun with it or even thinning my epidermis and losing fat pads, thoughts on retin a? seriosuly considering it but like latisse not considering it's potential sides would be very stupid.

Never used it directly on skin but I rotate between niacin and Niacinamide 500 mg capsules 2 days of one then 2 days of the other taking a capsule every day. It seems to be delaying my skin aging and initially seemed to actually turn the clock back just a bit.

At school I learnt cells lose a portion of their DNA (telomere) every time they divide by mythosis.

But this cannot apply to all cells, for example testicle cells can produce healthy sperm with full DNA through meiosis, for all man's life

I am ignorant in biology, but as I mentioned in my comment above, if telomere DNA loss was everywhere, then testicle cells would not be able to produce sperm with full DNA through meiosis for all duration of life of a man

Cell have enzymes called telomerase which prevents shortening of telomeres, but the genes for this enzyme slow down as you age. This is your answer to your question OP as a med student

Where do I even fucking get Tret in Europe? I don't want to go get it sent from some shady Indian website

@CosmicMaxxer what's your consensus on having great skin while preventing getting older?

Yeah only thing I’m worried about is losing fat padding

This, anyone got a link to a study/thread that talks about losing fat pads from Retin-A and how to avoid it? Only reason I'm not on the stuff is because of this.

Nobody knows, but there are foids that survived retin-a and look great, im using it all throughout the winter, so i will tell you in 10 years.
It's so good that the jews have it locked up behind the doctor's paywall.
