Significance of looks for men & women

We can agree women participate in hypergamy often and a lot of women overhype each other and say that she's in the same league or above a man. And a lot of times an attractive dude will date below simply because men have higher libido and a less sensitive disgust sensitivity than women.

If this is the case, then why do some studies show that men prioritize looks more even though men see women as more attractive? Even if they're not. How could men prioritize looks more than women but be less selective (and desperate) in dating apps and swipe for sub5-mtb women? It just doesn't make sense

And where has the pressure to looksmax for men come from? I thought historically usually women felt that pressure but more men are feeling the need to increase their looks

I don't think men prioritise looks more than women do
You'll see every 2nd or third women in the streets with makeup but how often do you see a well groomed man who takes care of his health and cares about being presentable in his appearance?
Women rely a lot on makeup to look good,men can't hide their flaws with makeup unlike women
Literal kids(female)also use makeup to look good
