This is the only way that works for me in the long term as well.I would add eating a STRICT diet of lean meat (chicken breast, eggwhites) and vegetables, fruits ONLY.
Can EASILY eat 1500 calories/day with no hunger due to the sheer volume/fiber of the vegetables and fruits but with extremely low calories.
I stay lean EFFORTLESSLY yearround with this diet framework. If I feel like eating a burger or pizza one day, its fine, because I can return to lean meat and veggies the next day and suffer zero damage/fat gain
This is the only way that works for me in the long term as well.
The only problem is cravings, which I admittedly give into sometimes, but like you said a burger once or twice a month is not going to ruin anything.
