Title. Ever since gpt was let out in the wild people think that someone invented the electricity. I don't understand why so many people think LLMs are some kind of super power @User28823

Funniest conversations of this happens on YouTube where a 18 something year zoomer is telling to an audience of 40 year l6 engineers that they are going to jobless soon

Do you think many jobs can't actually be replaced (technical limitations) or won't be replaced for regulatory, political or other reasons?

I originally wanted to do radiology, did internships, etc. AI can do a lot of the diagnostic work already quite well. Even if you won't be replaced outright, I think it would make me have less leverage. AI wasn't the only reason why I'm less interested in radiology now though.

I would kill to do an office job. It’s my 2nd day doing delivery driver and bro it’s hell on earth, I have to lift 100lb packages up 5 flights of stairs :feelswhy: half the drivers are injured and they have to keep hiring new ones

I already wrote about what AI is and is not in this thread

Post in thread 'AI videos now feel 200% more real than what we had just 2 months ago' https://looksmax.org/threads/ai-vid...e-had-just-2-months-ago.1651551/post-23512061

I think it's a mix of both technical limits and non technical fhings. Even if Al can perform a task like reading scans better than humans, there are still issues like liability, regulation. Medicine especially moves slowly because you can't just deploy and patch an Al when lives are at stake.

That said I agree about the leverage part even if radiologists aren't replaced, their value per unit of work might drop. Al could handle much of the repetitive tasks, leaving humans to just verify results. It's less about replacement and more about compression of roles and bargaining power.

How many deliveries everyday anyway @optimisticzoomer thinks office jobs are useless

What's the most sustainable area of tech for one to get into? Working on AI itself?

Yes. Roles that support or build on AI. You could try becoming AI/ML research.Working on Al like core model research. It is Highest paying profession rn even made a thread about it

But it is extremely competitive and is dominated by big labs.

But there are also smaller roles like cloud computing, data engineering, MLOps that will stay in demand because every company using Al depends on them.

Can one self study for it? I have LOTS of time free. But would be starting from scratch.

Or is it a networking game, having connections and stuff and gatekept degree knowledge etc.

White collar workers are useless. You pretend you do something for society but in reality you don't do anything.

Blue collar is real people doing real work. White collar is NPCs playing with their cocks all day pretending what they do is important. It isn’t. I couldn’t be in that environment

Not really man.. the kind of experience or research intuition those top Al researchers isn't easy you need a PhD to even be considered. Abstract, open-ended problems with no clear direction just aren't easy to learn. These kind of stuff are you either have it or you don't type

Ong blue collar is suffering. I’m not even blue collar (delivery driver). People who hate white collar are coping.

Very good career but need experience to be considered unless you can somehow network your way into the few job openings in cybersec open to freshers

Who cares they get paid more and don’t have to suffer back breaking labor :Comfy: office jobs are comfy as fuck
Blue collar jobs develop you as a person much more. Never underestimate the impact a job and meeting others can have. The office environment usually just isn’t right
@Debetro

AI and robots are coming full throttle. It's inevitable at some point. But is it going to be in the immediate future? I doubt it.
If someone is worried about AI stealing their job, they should just neetmaxx.
No job, nothing to steal.
Problem solved.

Bro you sound bluepilled as fuck :feelswhy:, it’s like Redditors saying being ugly develops your personality more. It’s just cope, how does suffering develop anything?

The Tea app is proof of what happens if you actually let AI do all the work.

My brother has a CS degree and has been unemployed for the last 8 months. Maybe it’s different in Canada? Idk
yeah its much more difficult now than it was a few years ago

if he doesnt have internships / basic experience during college its going to be even harder

He had no internships. He’s an absolute retard, my parents told him to get internships and he said no just the degree is enough to get a job :feelskek:

Do you think cs will be a bad major with AI in the future? (2028-2030)

Best of both worlds is something like engineering or construction management/contracting.

You work both in an office but visit sites often. At least you’ll have much better career prospects than typical blue collar jobs.

If you want to be successful at blue collar jobs you typically need to be a specialist at something.
