On June 17, 2017, the destroyer USS Fitzgerald collided with a Philippine merchant vessel in the waters 56 nautical miles south of Yokosuka, Japan, causing significant damage to the right side of the ship and water seepage in some areas of the ship, killing seven sailors and injuring three others, including the captain

On October 2, 2021, the U.S. Navy's most advanced Seawolf-class nuclear submarine, the USS Connecticut, struck an unidentified object in international waters in the South China Sea, resulting in damage to the submarine and injuries to 12 people
On January 24, 2022, a U.S. Navy F-35C fighter jet crashed into the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson in the South China Sea, ejecting the pilot and injuring seven people in the accident, CNN said, including the pilot and six people on the deck of the carrier. The crash is currently under investigation
Despite scoring exactly zero casualties on the Chinese side, China felt it was necessary to retaliate. On December 2019, China engineered and unleashed the Wuhan Virus (v0.1) onto the unsuspecting American populace. To date, the virus and its subsequent variants have eradicated 906,861 (and counting!) Americans, as well as infecting over 75 million(!) and causing trillions of dollars in economic damage
