Try a McDonald's or some other fast food place, there are plenty of single people coming there to eat, they serve food quickly, I remember how I went once alone in a regular restaurant, I was really hungry, haven't ate anything the day before, the restaurant was pretty empty and a waitress came to my table looking confused:
- "Ummm....hello, can I help you?"
- "Hello, I will have this soup from the menu...".
Silence for a few seconds while she stares at me.
- "Uhhh...yeah, yeah, sure...Anything else?"
- "Nope!"
- "Right...you're here alone?"
- "Yes."
- "Uh-huh...right...Ummm....anything to drink?"
- "No, just the soup..."
- "Yeah...Ummm...OK, it will take a few minutes..."
She then goes somewhere in the back then joins a bunch of other waitresses who were standing in a corner and they start to whisper to each other, while staring at me...
That was a pretty awkward restaurant experience!
