Hey,

I just finished my Accutane course 2 weeks ago. Here's my full situation :

Acne was severe before treatment — Accutane genuinely saved my skin. My absolute priority is making sure it doesn't come back.

Treatment history :
  • First course : 5 months at 30mg — but sebum came back full force after 2 months off, skin was extremely oily and shiny again
  • Saw a derm, did a second course after 3 months off : 1 month at 40mg then 2 months at 50mg
  • Skin seemed to be perfectly balanced and non-oily throughout treatment

Current issues (2 weeks post-treatment) :
  • Heavy redness on cheeks, significantly worse in the sun
  • Post-acne marks (PIE)
  • Remaining subcutaneous cysts (not surfaced yet)
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Mediterranean skin tone baseline — would look great if not for these issues

What I'm looking for :
  • Long term : actual skin health, mannequin-level skin
  • Short term : fraud options welcome
  • I want advice from people who actually know their stuff

Current routine : The Ordinary : Niacinamide 10%, Vitamin C, Retinol, Azelaic Acid, Caffeine serum. (don't hesitate to correct it)

Main questions :
  1. How long before the oily rebound hits this time and what can I do to slow it down ?
  2. Best approach for PIE and redness on Mediterranean skin specifically ?
  3. Are the subcutaneous cysts going to surface or just disappear ?
  4. Retinol this early post-Accutane — yes or no ?

Open to fraudmaxxing while the skin heals. Appreciate real answers only.

Open to anything, even oral products or whatever.

Many thanks in advance.

basically get rid of vit c, caffeine serum and niacinamide and switch to taz/tret and azelaic acid, spf 50 obviously when going out in the sun

caffiene serum is for puffy eyebags its all it does, if it works for you then I dont see why you would stop

ninacinamide is insanely good when you use strong actives so keep it, though 10% is not needed usually, I run 5% in the mornings and it has helped me do strong actives daily

vitamin C wont do much, depends what you use it for

so... if i understood :
morning : caffeine solution under my eyes + niacinamide + azelaic acid + bb cream (which one ?) + SPF
night : tret

No retinol, hydrating cream and vitamin C

I use the ordinary : is it a good choice ?

you absolutely need a moisturizer and maybe a skinbarrier repair when needed (cisaplast baume b5) since tret can be very strong

and a gentle cleanser at night before tret to wash off sweat sunscreen etc, cerave green one is good

and idk bout bb cream brands and retinol is just a way weaker version of tret (dogshit) so yes no retionol

no paula's choice scrub ? maybe too agressive for my skin

its commercial cope, basically they sell that to women who believe everything they read on labels. The only product that actually does something is retinol but it's 10x less potent than taz or tret 0,05%.
Also i forgot to mention you should only wash your face at night with something light, and add a plain ceramide based moisturizer that is not aggressive or thick

I understand. does cerave moisturizer actually do stuff ? or do i need another moisturizer ?
I heard starting retinol just after accutane was too agressive for my skin, is this true ?

it's good for summer months, does what moisturizer needs to do. You should probably wait for your skin barrier to be repair before starting tretinoin tbh, in the begging months of using tret use a sandwich method (moisturizer + tret + moisturizer) cerave moisturizing lotion is perfect for that. Also you will peel if you never used it before so just buy la roche possay cicaplast baume b5 and it's all good.
don't use drugstore retinols, it wont do shit, just use tret/taz

When accutane course is finished, using a topical retinoid indefinitely to maintain effects and get long term benefits like scar healing and aging prevention is good. Try

so waiting 2-3 months post accutane treatment is cope ? Do I need to use retinoid serum just after having finished the treatment ? I will go on retinoid serum before having my prescription for tretinoin...
