So basically i was asking ChatGPT what my potential height is and it said 180-184cm, 184+ potentially (im a late bloomer) im 19 rn & 175cm

I asked it if vaping would affect my overall height potential which it said it did. basically nicotine slightly suppresses growth hormone and IGF-1 and it may slow your growth rate which would hinder your growth = being shorter than you would actually be if you didn't vape/smoke so it would shave off a few centimeters from your potential height.

if anybody knows something about this lmk :hnghn:

Then there’s the endocrine system—your hormonal command center. Nicotine fires up your adrenal glands, dumping adrenaline into your bloodstream. Sure, it gives a quick burst of energy, but it also raises blood sugar and temporarily shuts down growth hormone production. In a 2024 study, adolescent smokers showed 11% lower IGF-1 levels—and IGF-1 is one of the key hormones for bone lengthening. When you cut that off repeatedly, it’s like telling your growth plates to take a day off—every single day.

Nicotine’s main skeletal effects:

  1. Lower bone density → Greater risk of fractures and osteoporosis.
  2. Reduced calcium absorption → Weaker bones, slower growth.

I wouldn't stress it. I vaped all throughout my younger years and did drugs yet I still hit 6'2". It's all genetics at the end of the day, almost nothing it going to reduce that.

  3. Delayed healing → Longer recovery after injuries, lost growth time.
Here’s something I’ve seen firsthand: people who quit nicotine early — especially before 21 — often manage to squeeze out extra growth in the last phase of their height window. Community reports in August 2025 showed that athletes who ditched smoking gained 0.3–0.5 cm more height than their peers who kept going. It’s not magic — it’s your body finally getting the resources it’s been starved of. If you want every last millimeter, quitting isn’t optional. It’s urgent.

If you’re in your teens and care about squeezing every last centimeter out of your growth years, you should know this: nicotine messes with the hormones that drive height growth. I’ve seen it happen up close — kids who started smoking or vaping early often stalled in height while their non-smoking friends kept growing. Science backs it up. Research in Endocrine Connections (2023) found that nicotine exposure can slash human growth hormone (HGH) levels by 15–20%, which is a big deal when you’re relying on that hormone to lengthen your bones.

From both clinic records and community surveys, one pattern shows up again and again:

  • HGH suppression → Slows down bone elongation.
  • Testosterone drop → Weakens bone density gains in teen boys.
  • Estrogen imbalance → Can close growth plates earlier in girls.

Some teens believe switching from smoking to vaping keeps them safe, but biology doesn’t care about the device—it’s the nicotine that does the damage. A 2024 public health review found that vaping teens showed the same stunted growth patterns as smokers, especially if they also skimped on sleep or loaded up on caffeine. Why? Nicotine constricts blood vessels, reducing the oxygen and nutrients that your growth plates need to keep stretching. And here’s the part most parents overlook: peer influence is a bigger driver than curiosity. If a friend group normalizes nicotine, the risk spreads fast—sometimes before anyone realizes it.

Here’s what the research is telling us loud and clear:

  1. Regular nicotine use in adolescence almost always affects final height.
  2. Even “occasional” use during peak growth years can cause lasting effects.
  3. Quitting before the growth plates close can reverse some—though not all—of the damage..

Wont do shit to your height. Chatgpt is a fearmongering retard.

With that said, you should probably stop for the sake of your health

well im tryna find actual studies on it so i can be sure my sleep is kinda ass tho + caffeine addiction + vape

That's up to you. Like I said, it's genetics, hardly anything will blunt your genetic ceiling. Seriously.

Switch to pouches.

If anything their nicotine should make you taller by weakly lowering estradiol

Only way I can see smoking being bad for growth is by inducing oxidative stress and inflammation allowing for less of the bodies resources being allocated for growth

well studies say nicotine itself is responsible

Those are from 2008 and 2012. Find newer studies. I linked you one written this year...

Good. Niggas who do that dumb shit should get capped at manlet height 🤷🏽

its js the hormones it mess up mostly if u take test gh and a ai u mostly straight but quit smoking it ruins collgen so ur skin hair etc and ur bones are gonna be weaker and a bunch of other shi.

Doesn't mean they aren't subject to innacuracy. Many from 90-2010s have been proven to be innacurate. Don't rely on them. Newer studies are better
so nicotine does infact make you shorter i started vaping back in august 2024 so for over a year now i haven't smoked that much and stopped a while ago so i might be good if i stop now

test gh and a ai could ruin ur hormones for life and put u on trt for life if ur not careful (ESPECIALLY WHILE UR STILL GROWING)

bruh i just wanna reach my full height potential y u praying on my downfall:forcedsmile:
But why get take into that habit in the first place. Did u give in to peer pressure or sumthin

A 10% reduction In growth hormone doesn’t affect your genetic potential, good sleep and good is all that matters
