Since I just joined I figure that I should start by contributing something. Looking through this site's posts it seems that online presence is underappreciated, so I'm going to give my two cents on the matter.
Why Should I Care About My Instagram?
Instagram is important because it's a social metric women use to assess your status, especially when you've just met. You can get a girl's number, but when she inevitably asks for your Insta and sees your 120 followers and baby picture profile picture it's over. Only the very attractive can play into the mysterious "I don't have social media" bit. As I'll go over, it's imperative you have strong proof of social without giving try-hard vibes. As a preface this will be much more difficult if you're not looksmaxxed. The purpose of optimizing your Instagram is to amplify the returns on the effort you put into your looks.
Username
It goes without saying, just make your username normal. Mine follows the format john.doe. Any variation of first + last name will do, perhaps with a number or something at the end if you have a common name. Do not make your handle some retarded string of words; you're not an NFL runningback or Kevin Durant.
Profile Picture
This should be a clear picture of your face. This is the first thing someone sees on your profile so you want to make a good impression. Anything else and you're broadcasting the fact that you're ugly, and you're not going to get the follow back.
Bio
Again keep it simple. Be neurotypical. If you're a student or an alumni somewhere throw that in. Location + maybe a bible verse or something is fine too. I'd stray away from quotes. Ideally you will demonstrate who you are through your posts and you don't need to spell it out. Less is more.
Follower Count
This is where you'll have to put in the most effort. Unless you're a chad, if a girl looks at your profile and sees you have sub 300 followers she's going to assume you don't have friends and something is wrong with you. That being said you need to be careful about how you go about growing your followers. If your profile is botted as fuck it's going to do more harm than good. Use the following methods to increase your following:
Organic Followers
Obviously it's going to be better to grow your account with people you know. This is because having comments and a high like/follow ratio is almost just as important as follow count, if not more. It's not a strong signal if you have 1,500 followers but 100 likes per post; it comes off as inorganic. This doesn't just have to be girls, in fact it's better to have men following you too. It suggests you have male comradery in your life and aren't some fuckboy/creep. How to go about this is outside the scope of this guide, however I'll give some brief pointers to get you started. The idea is to "flirt with life". Don't force conversation, just be a genuine and authentic person. It's not rocket science.
- The gym is a great place to make friends. Go at the same time everyday and you'll start to consistently see familiar faces. Make small talk with the clerk at the front desk. Ask the gym bro next to you if his helimix bottle actually works.
- Find a bar with younger staff and strike up conversation. Go on an off night where it's less busy so the bartender has time to talk. If you don't want to drink order order food instead. Going while a football/basketball game is on, it gives you something to talk about with male bartenders. Usually if you're cool they'll put you on to their friends too.
- Travel. In an environment where nobody knows each other it's easier to make friends. Staying at a hostel makes it even easier.
The Follow/Unfollow Method
This is the more typical method of gaining followers, and you'll be able to do it much faster than the latter method. Simply go to a larger account that's based locally and follow girls that follow that account. If they don't follow back within a couple days you should unfollow them. You don't want a bad follow/following ratio. Skimming through someone's profile before following will save you time in the long run. If I see someone has 2,000 followers but is only following 300 accounts, I'm going to assume she's not going to follow me back and move on. Same goes for girls with boyfriends.
One benefit to this method is your can preselect the type of people you want to curate your following towards. For example, if you're conservative, go through the followers of the local Turning Point USA chapter. This saves you time if you decide to DM these girls, since political affiliation is often difficult to perceive without asking. Other good places to look are accounts for the local pilates spot or gym, biasing girls that are physically fit. You can also go through the following of sorority pages, although you can't be quite as aggressive following people. You have to keep in mind these people are all friends and if they notice you just requested to follow their entire PC they'll think you're weird and ignore you.
Posts
I'd aim to have 3-5 posts of you doing interesting things, social gatherings, or your hobbies. Some good things to post are the beach/lake, concerts, skiing/snowboarding, travel, hikes, sporting events, etc. Show you're a real person with a real life. As you improve your looks you should delete old posts and replace them with something fresh. To ensure your posts have engagement, post with friends. While this might only have a marginal effect on the likes your post gets, the kicker is comments. You want your posts to have several comments otherwise it's off-putting. Bonus points if you have women commenting as well. It demonstrates to people viewing your profile you can interact with women and aren't a weirdo. A caveat here being you want to make sure the friends you are posting are normal too. You'll drag yourself down if it seems like you don't fit in with normal people.
Private or Public?
Realistically this is a case-by-case basis, however you generally only want to be private if you mog in your profile picture and/or already have a lot of followers. If you don't, you have more to gain showcasing your lifestyle/physique than you do from mystery/intrigue.
What Not To Do
Generally speaking you want to make sure your profile your profile comes off as effortless. Acknowledging the irony of saying this in this guide: it's perceived as gay and effeminate to put high effort into your account. This means no curating aesthetics, posting reels, story highlights, archive posts, etc. You lose masculine frame from doing these things. Additionally, avoid posting gym pics. If you want to post your physique, do that shit at the beach or on the lake or something. Gym posts cater towards the male gaze. Stacey doesn't want to see your lat spread, bro. Furthermore, it potentially signals that you don't have hobbies, and latched on to something that should be ubiquitous in everyone's life.
I hope some of you can benefit from this post. Most of this stuff is common sense, but reading through some of the threads on the topic suggest otherwise.
