He sometimes showed me their chat logs, and it was pretty clear from them that she just didn't want to hurt him and wasn't actually interested in him. My friend gradually realized that too and just stopped texting her (waiting for her to text him first). I've asked him a few times if it's over with them, but he's always just given me vague answers. The thing is, I really like her too.

After he stopped messaging her, I messaged her once..she was pretty open and seems interested, too. What should I do? I’m not really close with this friend, but can I just go ahead and “steal” his “girl”?
