if you don't know what a movie is, it's It's a Wonderful Life with James Stewart from 1946. I don't think it's that well known in Europe, but it's a cult in America.
it is a relatively depressing movie, about that hopes are false illusions and that if you are to be a really good person, you must sacrifice your own dreams. represents a fictional world, where not only will you not go the farthest with honesty, but you will go almost nowhere, and the only satisfaction may be the knowledge that without you it would be a far worse place. Moreover, until then, no one had dared to combine the story of the power of the family and the American small town with the darkest visions of film noir, breaking many classical narrative rules in one and a half hours.
