I agree, tell that to OP JFL.True but the maseeter is a very atrophy resistant muscle compared to the chest, op either has very small masseters or didn't train them long and good enough, loads of people keep their gains after quitting or reducing the training frequency otherwise botox in the jaw muscles wouldn’t be a thing if they were so easy to atrophy in the first place.
It’s likely very atrophy resistant due to the fact it’s a very androgen dense muscle, as well as the fact that we are using it daily to chew food, so will receive stimulus wether you intentionally chew gum or not. Whereas chest etc, if you don’t go gym, there’s isn’t any stimulus.
Even with botox, for many it is a recurring thing they have to do since it just gets hypertrophied again.
