Well, you're actually right. There's different ways you can manipulate your ratios (either as a halo or failo) if you understand the front and back distortion. For instance, front increases IPD and decreases ESR than back even evident in your example

My ratios clearly significantly improve, and my asymmetry’s are way less noticeable my features don’t look as distorted when they looked subhuman in the selfie, u can see this in Henry Cavills selfies too aswell.

In conclusion, lens distortion is very real.
