I suffer from alternating esotropia without fusion in both eyes at 18, have had it since birth pretty much

I’m looking at strabismus surgeons. One of them I can see sooner and probably have the surgery done sooner, which would be great because then I could start living my life sooner.

The other one has more experience, more reviews, several literature publications, and is a director of the hospitals ophthalmology department. But I’m sure it would take multiple months longer with him, and cost more.

Is it a good idea to try and go for the 2nd surgeon, or am I being overly perfectionist? At what point does the cost of having to wait outweigh the reputation, if both surgeons seem generally competent? I don’t want to make a choice I regret, but I also can’t stand sitting around just waiting to look human.

@RealSurgerymax I know you’re not directly involved in strabismus correction by any means, but do you happen to have any informal advice from your experience, especially in orbital surgery?

Even the autists here dont know about your specific problem i think
It’s just lazy eyes/crosseye

There has to be at least someone here who’s gotten the surgery
